Emma Dyason, Memory

Memory, 2015

The concept of narritive is something that we explore on a daily basis; taking many shapes and forms. When we think of memories we seem to believe we remember a certain thing exactly how it happened in detail. However, this is not true. Infact, it is more like 'chinese whispers.' Our best recollection of the event is influenced and always altered by the last time we recalled it.

I experimented with print, influenced by Yves Klein's 'Anthropometry Perforance,' using oil and pigment to create ghostly images on a large scale. The aim was to portray the idea of lost or trapped memories. Incontestably, I allowed this project to become personal to myself by using my own body and personal experience.
